a. I thought that the free bird was this type of dream or a symbol of freedom that the caged bird was having. The caged bird had dreams of being free and roaming the skies and look down into the water as the free bird did.
b. The phrases “caged bird” and “free bird” are repeated throughout the poem to show the contrast of the two birds. Both are the same but in different situations and I think it is apparent that the birds can become interchangeable and that their situation could be the others.
c. I think Maya Angelou’s message was to never give up hope and to keep fighting for what you believe in even though it might seem at the present that you are caged forever.
d. I think that both poems are saying how life can always change and that we have to keep moving in order to fight for what we believe in.
